About vermouth
Mixed or solo
There’s no martini cocktail without vermouth. There’s no negroni without Vermouth. And of course, there’s no vermuttino without vermouth. We celebrate the history and the power of the most elegant aromatized and fortified wine. As Giancarlo Mancino, states, “From the time of the Ancient Greeks until today, the recipes of this fortified and aromatised wine have followed one another”.
The wine base is the structure for a wonderful painting made up of spices, botanicals and flowers. Today, more than ever, there is a need for union, just as the spices are combined into a bottle of vermouth - a way to celebrate one of the greatest cocktail ingredients of all the time and to strengthen our community. In Australia, “aside from a healthy heyday in the 1970s, where it was often sloshed in a highball and topped up with dry ginger or soda, vermouth has been a bit player, mainly used to frugally scent a martini. In truth, vermouth has a more than noble history in this country, and a revolution that is less than a decade old is growing pace, with an ever-increasing selection of local examples challenging perceptions of what vermouth can and should be.” Young Gun of Wines, 2020
